Children in Need

The younger Knebworth Youth age groups did their bit for the BBC's 'Children in Need' fund raiser in November. The U6 Cubs and U7 Tigers players were asked to arrive for training in super-hero outfits to help raise funds, and the parents of both age groups did a sterling job of making/donating cakes for an after-training sale. In addition to this, the Girls U10 Tigresses turned out for their home fixture against Watford Ladies in their PJ's. In total the three age groups raised around £300 and special thanks to Chloe Beckett for getting everybody organised. Click on the images to enlarge them......or use code KFC001 for the video clip.

Coach Carter responsible for England improvement

England's much-improved performances in the European Championship qualifiers, after a dismal World Cup showing, can be attributed to the involvement of Knebworth Youth coach Denise Carter, who recently joined Fabio Cappello and the England squad at Arsenal's training ground ahead of the games against Hungary and Switzerland. Denise was one of a handful of coaches from Hertfordshire invited along as part of the 'Get into Football' initiative being organised by the Football Association and they enjoyed watching the squad being put through their paces by the England coaching team whilst also conducting a few interviews of their own. Denise was overheard commenting "how nice" a certain Wayne Rooney was. Well you can't get everything right I suppose.................

Cheetahs spotted in woods!

The Knebworth Youth U11 Cheetahs 'Yellows' and 'Blacks' organised a pre-season 'team bonding' event at Battlefield Live up in Sawbridgeworth on Saturday 4th September. With lots of new players coming into the two squads this summer we thought it would be a nice idea to get them all together and doing something a little different. The players were dressed up in their camouflage outfits and kitted out with laser guns before being split into two teams and sent off into the woods for a team objective. All of the squad had an enjoyable morning and there is even talk of a parent event in the near future!

Flitwick Eagles pre-season tournament

Knebworth Youth sent two teams over to Bedfordshire over the weekend of 4th/5th September to participate in the Flitwick Eagles pre-season tournament. On Saturday the U12 Girls 'Lionesses' played really well and finished up as overall runners-up after acquitting themselves well in the afternoon against some good teams. On Sunday the U11 Cheetahs 'Yellows' were in a 10-team event that was split into two groups. They won all of their group games to top the group and faced a very strong St Martins Youth from Luton in the semi-finals. They won the game 1-0 to progress to the tournament final where they faced Bushmead Rovers. Unfortunately they found Rovers too strong on the day and went down 2-0 but it was a great effort by everyone today and the side is beginning to come together and look sharp ahead of the start of the season.
